Canadian Olympians honoured in downtown celebration

CALGARY – A big bash will get underway in the city’s downtown core on Friday, to celebrate the accomplishments of Canadian athletes who participated in the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

The Parade of Champions will take place on Friday, June 6th.

Dozens of Olympic athletes will depart from 10th Street and 8th Avenue S.W. at 11:30 a.m., walking east along 8th Avenue until they reach Olympic Plaza.

Once the athletes arrive at the plaza, an outdoor celebration will take place featuring live entertainment, autograph signings and onstage interviews.

The event is scheduled to wrap up by 2 p.m.

On Friday evening, athletes will attend a Hall of Fame Gala and Induction Ceremony at the Saddledome.

Olympians will begin arriving on the Red Carpet at 4:45 p.m., prior to the gala which starts at 7 p.m.
