TORONTO – British police are looking for suspects after a pet cat was blinded and left for dead in a bin.

Baz, a seven-year-old tomcat, was found by a neighbour covered in blood and “close to death” after missing for a couple of days.

“I am disgusted with what these nasty people can do to animals,” said Baz’s owner Kirsty Sparrow in an interview.  “It has been a traumatic time for Baz and it sickens me to think people could do that to my baby.”

Sparrow said she believes Baz was attacked because of a distinctive black patch of fur under his nose,  a marking that she said resembles Adolf Hitler’s infamous moustache.

“I put a photo on Facebook of Baz as he has a distinctive black mark under his nose and asked if anyone saw him to contact me,” said Sparrow. “I took a call at work from the vet to say he had been found in a bin but was in a bad way. He had been there for a while.”

Despite his resemblance to the Nazi dictator, Sparrow said Baz is “timid and gentle.”

Baz underwent surgery on Wednesday to have his eye removed. Sparrow said she was told by the vet that her pet’s injuries were not from being hit by a car.

On Twitter, people began to show their support for the injured feline with the hashtag #prayforBaz.

Sparrow said Baz is expected to make a full recovery.
