A man was found dead in a suite in the area of 149 St. and 89 Ave., shortly after 4:15 p.m.

Police say they received two phone calls from neighbours who heard noise coming from inside a suite on the third floor of the building.

“Apparently one male entered the suite, a fight of some sort ensued. The individual that initially entered the suite fled, ran, was last seen running out the back door,” said Inspector Brian Nowlan with the EPS.

Police say the man, who is in his 30s, was found shot to death inside the apartment suite.

“There are obvious signs of trauma to the body,” Nowlan said. “He was alone in the suite at the time.”

On Monday afternoon, an autopsy confirmed the death was a homicide and that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.

Nowlan says a male suspect was seen leaving the scene in a white vehicle.

Police interviewed witnesses from the apartment building and handed the case over to the homicide unit.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate the shooting, which is the city’s tenth homicide of 2014.
