Toronto woman wanted in kidnapping case believed to be in Ottawa: police

OTTAWA – Toronto police have asked their Ottawa counterparts for help finding a woman wanted in a kidnapping investigation.

Toronto police Det. Graeme Naidoo says Elanna Marki, 40, who is wanted in connection with an alleged kidnapping and assault incident in December, is believed to be in Ottawa.

Investigators allege a woman was held captive in two apartments in east-end Toronto and violently assaulted by a man and three women with a variety of weapons over several days.

Toronto police have said the victim was choked with a seatbelt as she was driven to a park on Dec. 21, where she managed to escape and sought help from a passerby.

Two other women have been arrested in connection with the case and face charges including assault with a weapon, forcible confinement and kidnapping.

Investigators say anyone who knows of Marki’s whereabouts should not approach her but should call 911 immediately.

They are also searching for John Brown, 44, of Pickering, in connection to the case and have said he is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
