Overnight Sunday, Transport Quebec completely demolished an old overpass on highway 30. Traffic will be diverted to the new overpass when route 30 reopens.
Transport Quebec is undertaking major modernization work on the eastern arm of Highway 30. Both overpasses have been rebuilt and the lighting system is also being replaced.
As well, surveillance cameras, electronic message boards and a system to count traffic will be installed.
The eastern junction of highways 20 and 30 is used by 130,000 cars every day.
The project began in 2013 and is expected to take three years to complete.
