Quebec Solidaire leader Françoise David keeps Gouin seat

Françoise David, co-leader for Quebec Solidaire, has kept her Montreal-area seat of Gouin.

David, the incumbent, won with 3,904 votes in early results. The Parti Québecois’ Louise Mailloux came in second with 1,713 votes.

David, former president of the Fédération des Femmes du Québec, was first elected as MNA in 2012. Before then, Gouin was a PQ riding – David ran and was defeated there in 2007 and 2008.

David’s sister, Hélène David, also ran for office this election – but for a different party. She won a Liberal seat in the riding of Outremont.
