CALGARY – Three people are lucky to be alive after getting caught in an avalanche in Kananaskis on Sunday.
Officials with Kananaskis Public Safety say rescue crews were called to an avalanche near Hero’s Knob around 2 p.m.
They say a group of six people were involved in a skier-triggered slide.
Two people were completely buried, while another was partially buried.
The three skiers who weren’t trapped in the avalanche were able to dig the victims out in less than ten minutes, and all three were able to breathe on their own after being pulled out.
The entire group was transported out of the area by helicopter.
One person suffered minor injuries but nobody required hospitalization.
