$50M Lotto Max ticket sold in BC

TORONTO – There is one winning ticket for the $50-million jackpot in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw – and it was purchased somewhere in British Columbia.

The giant jackpot had gone unclaimed for four previous draws.

Also up for grabs last night were 50 MaxMillions prizes of $1-million each, and claims are being made on 17 of them.

The jackpot for next Friday’s draw will be approximately $43-million.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation this was only the fifth time Lotto Max has offered $100 million in prizes.

In British Columbia tickets were bought up quickly Friday as ‘jackpot chasers’ got their tickets ready for the big draw.

“During the lunch hour and after work, we generally see about 1,000 transactions a minute,” said Chris Fairclough, a spokesperson for the B.C. Lottery Corporation. Fairclough said in B.C. there’s a trend among players to buy more tickets when big jackpots are offered.
