TRI-CITY — The Kelowna Rockets won its 50th game of the season, extending its lead in the race for first overall in the WHL, with a 4-3 shootout victory in Tri-City on Wednesday night.
Myles Bell had the shootout winner and Marek Tvrdon scored twice in the victory as Kelowna improved to 50-9-0-4 on the season, the second straight year the team has won over 50 games.

Tvrdon opened the scoring in the first and tied the game in the third as Kelowna trailed 3-2 in the third, after surrendering three straight goals to the Americans.
The 20-year-old Slovakian now has nine goals and 19 points in 20 games since joining the Rockets.
Bell also scored in regulation, hitting the 40 goal mark for the first time in his career.

Jackson Whistle earned the win in net improving to 16-3-0-0 on the season.
For Kelowna, the win moves them just two wins shy of last year’s record-setting 52 win season. They also pulled seven points ahead of Portland in the race for first overall in the WHL and in the Western Conference.
The Rockets now head into a weekend home and home series with the Vancouver Giants playing Friday night in Kelowna and Saturday night in Vancouver.
