Police investigate stabbing at downtown Edmonton hotel

EDMONTON – Police are searching for a male suspect after a stabbing downtown Sunday morning.

Police were called to the Comfort Inn & Suites, located at 100 Avenue and 104 Street, just before 9:00 a.m. Officers say an altercation between two men broke out in the lobby of the hotel, leading to one of the men being stabbed in the chest.

The victim, who is in his 20s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says it has identified a male suspect. However, he is not in custody at this time.

Police say this was not a random event, and the two men knew each other.
