Canada out in Olympic snowboard parallel giant slalom

TORONTO – It was a rough outing for Team Canada in snowboard parallel giant slalom event as all six riders failed to reach the finals, including Vancouver Olympic champion Jasey-Jay Anderson.

In the men’s event, Anderson and fellow Canadian Matt Morison were eliminated in the second round of competition.

Michael Lambert, the third Canadian in the event, failed to make it past the qualifying round.

Vic Wild of Russia won gold, Nevin Galmarini of Switzerland took silver and Zan Kosir of Slovenia won bronze.

In the women’s event, Marianne Leeson, Caroline Calve and Ariane Lavigne didn’t make it past the quarter-finals.

Patrizia Kummer of Switzerland won gold, Tomoka Takeuchi of Japan took silver and Alena Zavarzina of Russia won bronze.
