Tuesday marked the kickoff of the annual Capital City Cleanup.
The annual initiative encourages Edmontonians to get out and spend 15 minutes picking up litter to make our city a cleaner place.
"We’ve had a really long winter." Don Belanger of the Capital City Cleanup program said Tuesday. "It’s been horrendous with snow. Burried underneath that snow has been lots of litter. Our block captains are about to start out for our ‘Adopt a Block’ program later this week."
Registration is still going on for residents to sign up to be block captains, responsible for keeping the area around their home or business litter free throughout the summer.
The program also hopes to tackle the graffiti issue in our city. Residents are encouraged to call 311 to report graffiti in their area.
