Edmonton business makes generous donations

Edmonton – An Edmonton business is making a very generous donation to those in need.

Go Auto gave each of its nearly 2,000 employees $500 to perform a good deed for someone.

The employees were told the money couldn’t be spent on themselves. They had to either give to someone who really needs it or donate it to charity.

Go Auto’s president says he came up with the idea after watching an Oprah Winfrey show.

“I think initially they (employees) almost didn’t believe it. It was a little stunning I think at first, and then, since then I think it’s just been really positive. I think people are really engaged, and they’re all doing really cool stuff with it,” said Jared Priestner.

A number of employees have pooled their money together to make a donation to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, while another group put their money together to buy a new vehicle for someone in need.

“There’s a lady around Edmonton that does sort of her own random acts of kindness wagon. So I think she has sort of a dilapidated van, so I think a bunch of our employees are going to band together and get her a brand new vehicle to do her good work in,” explained Priestner.

Go Auto’s goal is to create a ‘pay-it-forward’ mentality, motivating employees to stay involved in helping the less fortunate.
