Woman hit by car in Dartmouth not in crosswalk, seriously injured: police

HALIFAX – A young woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Dartmouth.

Police were called at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, to the collision on Pleasant Street. A release said the victim was jaywalking near the CN railway overpass to reach Belmont Avenue.

The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre’s intensive care unit. Police have not released the woman’s name, but said she is 22 years old.

The driver involved in the crash is a 26-year-old woman. Her dark-coloured car had visible damage and was towed from the scene.

Police re-opened Pleasant Street around midnight. They have not pressed charges in the case.
