TORONTO — A new comedy series that brings SCTV veteran Andrea Martin back to Canadian television will debut March 12.
Working The Engels follows an eccentric family as they struggle to keep the deceased patriarch’s debt-ridden law firm up and running — even though only one of them is licensed to practice law.
Martin, 67, stars opposite Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Benjamin Arthur (Less Than Kind) and Azura Skye (American Horror Story).
Martin won a Tony Award last year for her role in Pippin.

She’ll be reunited on the half-hour comedy series with former SCTV co-stars Martin Short and Eugene Levy — who both make guest appearances.
Other special guests to watch for include Martin’s ex-Godspell co-star Victor Garber, former Kids in the Hall star Scott Thompson and familiar faces Colin Mochrie and Wendy Crewson.
Four episodes were directed by Beverly Hills 90210 alum Jason Priestley.
The made-in-Toronto series, which has been picked up south of the border by NBC, is a return to comedy for Global.
“We couldn’t be more ecstatic to be back in original comedy,” said Barbara Williams, senior vice-president of content at Shaw Media. “With a knock-out script and top-notch cast, it’s a show that brings the perfect amount of laughter and heart to our primetime lineup.”
Working The Engels debuts March 12 at 9:00 p.m. on Global.
