The family of a young Montreal woman brutally murdered nearly two decades ago is furious that her killer is now allowed to leave prison five days per week.
Sebastien Simon was convicted of first-degree murder after stabbing Brigitte Serre 72 times nearly two decades ago during a robbery at a city gas station.

Now, nearly 20 years into his sentence, he’s gaining more and more freedom.
That does not sit well with Serre’s family, who are now speaking out about the added freedom Simon is getting after a murder that left a city shaken and their 17-year-old daughter dead.

“I don’t know if it’s shock or disbelief,” said Darlene Ryan, Serre’s stepmother, about the parole board’s decision on the added freedom for Serre’s killer.
