Four years after our Winter Games wrapped up, a gift from the birthplace of the Olympics has finally been installed in downtown Vancouver.

City crews installed the “Godesss of Sport” statue from Greece on a median on West Cordova Street near the Shaw Tower Monday.

The city said it was more difficult than they anticipated to find an appropriate location for a statue in the downtown core.

The statue was sitting in storage since 2010. It is solid bronze and four meters high.

The sculptor had previously bought plane tickets for the unveiling of the statue, but had to cancel them due to the delay. It’s not known when the new official unveiling will be.
