Sharon Stone to play U.S. vice president in Vancouver

TORONTO — Sharon Stone is coming to Canada to portray the first female U.S. vice president.

Stone has signed to star in the pilot for Agent X, an action-drama that will be shot in Vancouver from mid-February to early March.

The 55-year-old Basic Instinct star hasn’t appeared on the small screen since a four-episode run on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2010.

Stone will play Natalie Maccabee, the widowed wife of a U.S. senator who becomes vice president and, according to cable network TNT, must protect the Constitution “in times of great crisis with the aid of her Chief Steward and a secret operative designated Agent X.”

The pilot was written by William Blake Herron (The Bourne Identity), who will also direct.

Stone will star opposite Jeff Hephner (Chicago Fire) as the titular character and Mike Colter (The Good Wife) as House Speaker Miles Lathem.

TNT has produced three seasons of Falling Skies in Vancouver (the first season was filmed in Toronto).
