OLIVER — John Martin isn’t sure what attacked his 4-year-old mutt, Lola.
Martin received a phone call on Tuesday morning from a neighbour that Lola had been hurt.
“It’s terrible; it’s almost like having an injured child,” says Martin.
At first it looked like a major gash, but after the veterinarian shaved off some fur, it was clear that Lola suffered multiple scratch wounds.
According to Oliver RCMP’s press release, two dogs were attacked by a wild animal, possibly a bobcat.

Global News showed a local conservation officer photos of Lola’s injuries.
“It could be another animal, but it is consistent with a bobcat,” says conservation officer Bob Hamilton.
Bobcats are known to hunt on quail, rodents and rabbits.
But Hamilton says they are opportunistic predators and have been known to eat household pets.
