SASKATOON – The list of prestigious names who have graced the centre stage for the annual Dogs’ Breakfast includes Warren Moon, Jeff Garcia, Ron Lancaster, Damon Allen and Rueben Mayes.
On Thursday, May 1, the Huskies Football Foundations 14th Annual Dogs’ Breakfast will add two more names to that list: Saskatchewan Roughriders star quarterback Darian Durant and one the greatest CFL receivers of all time, Geroy Simon.
“They’re going to be entertaining,” said Huskies head coach Brian Towriss.
“We’re going to get lots of stories on the season leading up to the Grey Cup and maybe some of their past and how they developed as pro football players.”
Through 13 years, the Dogs’ Breakfast fundraiser has provided student athletes with over 300 scholarships.
Towriss knows it’s one the most important mornings of the year for the Huskies football program.
“It’s been real critical to our survival. Every year we are tasked with bringing in a little more funding to support our student athlete. I’m not sure where we would have been without the establishment of the (Huskies Football) Foundation and this breakfast over the years.”
