Queen sends sympathy to families affected by Quebec fire

MONTREAL – David Johnston, the Governor General of Canada, shared a message from Her Majesty the Queen addressed to those affected by the fire in L’Isle Verte on Friday.

Authorities confirmed the deaths of five elderly residents, while another 30 are unaccounted for, as investigators continued their grim search on Friday.

The Queen said that she was saddened to learn of the serious fire.

“The Duke of Edinburgh and I send our sympathy to the families of those who have died,” Her Majesty wrote.

“Our thoughts and prayers to all those who have been injured in this terrible event.”
