TORONTO — Renowned music engineer Nick Blagona, who has worked with groups like Deep Purple, The Police and the Bee Gees — was in stable condition Wednesday in a Southern Ontario hospital suffering from pneumonia and the flu.

“They have him in an induced coma to heal,” partner Mary-Jane Russell explained in a message posted on Facebook.

“Your positive energy is vital for the next 36 hours.”

Blagona — known as the “Tone Guru” — checked into Hamilton General Hospital on Monday complaining of high fever, vomiting and coughing.

“I’m very sick. My whole body has given up,” he wrote on Facebook.

Blagona, who lives in Caledonia, Ont., is a prolific recording engineer whose credits include hits like “You Should Be Dancing” by the Bee Gees and “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police — both recorded at the now-defunct Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec.
