SASKATOON – Viterra is investing $5million in a partnership with Saskatoon’s Crop Development Centre (CDC) to enhance wheat research and breeding.
The five-year partnership announced on Thursday focuses on development of better wheat and durum varieties for the marketplace.

“Viterra’s long and successful history of collaboration with the CDC has resulted in several innovative and high-performing seed varieties,” said Kyle Jeworski, Vieterra North America president/CEO.
Located within the University of Saskatchewan College of Agriculture and Bioresources, the CDC has released over 400 new plant varieties since its inception in 1971.
The cost of developing a single new wheat variety is estimated between $500,000 and a million.
