‘The Partridge Family’ star Dave Madden dies at 82

TORONTO — Dave Madden, who played Reuben Kincaid on The Partridge Family, died Thursday. He was 82.

Born in Sarnia, Ont., Madden played the family band’s manager on the popular ’70s TV series and had a recurring role on the comedy series Alice.

Madden died of congestive heart and kidney failure in Fruit Cove, Florida, according to his former agent.

Danny Bonaduce, who played Danny Partridge, tweeted“Dave Madden was a great guy & like family to me. He taught me to drive a car when I was 10. One of many great memories. I’ll truly miss him.”

Although born in Canada, Madden grew up across the border in Michigan and Indiana. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force, he earned a degree in Communications from the University of Miami.

After appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show, he was cast on Laugh-In and then landed the role on The Partridge Family. He had guest roles on series like The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Happy Days and Bewitched.

Former Bewitched star Erin Murphy tweeted: “He was a great guy.”

Madden is survived by second wife Sandy Martin and two children from his first wife Nena Arnold, who died in 1985.
