PICTOU, N.S. – The trial of a Nova Scotia man accused of fatally stabbing Amber Kirwan in 2011 resumes Friday, and will include testimony from the medical examiner.
On Thursday, the focus of Christopher Falconer’s trial for Kirwan’s murder turned to the discovery of her body.
The court heard from a woman who found key pieces of evidence in the case.
Lisa Williams told the court she decided to search along a logging road near her home northwest of New Glasgow on Oct. 14, 2011.

She said she was troubled by the disappearance of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan five days earlier. The young woman was last seen leaving a bar in New Glasgow on Oct. 9, 2011.
“I felt I should walk there to ease my mind, ” Williams told the court in Pictou. “I felt she was there. I felt that they missed something.”
Williams said that as she and her common-law partner, Nathan Goodall, were getting ready to leave the Heathbell Road area, she spotted a pair of torn, black leggings on the ground.
Further searching turned up some feather earrings in a tree.

Williams said she and Goodall returned home and called police.
Outside the courtroom, Crown attorney Bill Gorman said the finds shifted the search for Kirwan, which eventually led to the discovery of her bound, naked body in a muddy, shallow grave.
Falconer was charged in May 2012. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
