Boyfriend of Amber Kirwan testifies at murder trial

PICTOU, N.S. – Crown prosecutors say they will continue to methodically lay out their case Wednesday in the trial of a Nova Scotia man accused in the 2011 stabbing death of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan.

Bill Gorman told the first-degree murder trial of Christopher Falconer that Kirwan’s naked body was found face down in a grave off a rural road near New Glasgow about a month after she disappeared following a night out at a local pool hall.

Gorman told the court in Pictou that Kirwan bled to death as a result of repeated stabbing.

Outside court Tuesday, Gorman described Kirwan’s death as “gruesome.”

The 31-year-old accused was charged in May 2012.

Co-counsel Patrick Young says the prosecution will continue to establish the facts of the case through the testimony of nearly 40 witnesses.
