Courtenay man arrested after seizure of 19 guns, plus drugs and weapons

A 31-year-old Courtenay man has been arrested after police allegedly discovered firearms, drugs and other weapons in two homes and a storage locker.

Police say the man has links to at least one organized crime group on Vancouver Island.

Police seized 19 firearms including five handguns, 11 rifles and three shotguns, including one loaded semi-automatic 9mm and a sawed-off shotgun.

Thousands of rounds of ammunition, several firearms parts, a taser, a baton, machete and brass knuckles were also seized.

Six grams of crack cocaine were also seized.

The man is known to police and has a criminal record for violent offences.

He was released from police custody pending charges.
