TORONTO – It’s an anniversary very few are able to celebrate: launching into space.
But it was one year ago Thursday that Chris Hadfield, lifted off in a Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan and headed toward the International Space Station (ISS).
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is marking the anniversary — or “launchiversary” as they call it — with a retrospective video.
Hadfield soared to international fame after tweeting about daily life aboard the ISS. His photos of unique perspectives and his rich insights helped people gain a new view of Earth.
Hadfield returned to Earth on May 13, 2013 after living in space for five months and becoming the first Canadian to command the ISS.
