Dartmouth family copes with second disaster in 2 months

DARTMOUTH – The Flint family is struggling to rebuild for a second time in less that two months after their apartment was flooded Tuesday morning by a water from a broken pipe.

Early Tuesday morning, Jedasha Flint awoke to find her room flooded with hot water and steam filling the apartment. Her children were sleeping in the bedroom where the pipe burst, leaving nearly ankle-deep puddles in some areas.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A technician working on the radiator suspected the pipe had frozen, causing it to split.

This is the second time in just over a month that the Flint’s have had to deal with having their possessions destroyed. The family lost their North Preston home to a fire in November and have been working to get things back in order ever since.

With only one week left before Christmas, many of the gifts they had under the tree were damaged by the water. It is still unclear how much the damages will cost, but Flint is looking for any possible help she can find before Christmas arrives.
