RCMP have charged a 36-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with a suspicious death near Sundre, Alta., on Thursday.

Police said they received a report of a man being shot in an area northeast of the town shortly after 12 p.m. Jan. 25. RCMP said when officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to hospital but died a short time later. RCMP have since identified the man as 36-year-old Justin Goodhand of Sundre.

An autopsy was completed on Friday determined the death was a homicide.

Richard Mcculloch, also of Sundre, faces a second-degree murder charge.

Police said Mcculloch would be held in custody pending an appearance in Didsbury Provincial on Monday.
