Police said the highway was closed in both directions to allow emergency personnel to respond.

RCMP originally said the collision involved a fatality. However, later issued an update on Friday to say no one died although serious injuries did occur.

“The injured were transported to the hospital by STARS,” RCMP said in a news release.

The RCMP did not say how many people were injured.

The highway has since reopened.

An RCMP collision analyst is helping with the investigation.
