RCMP investigate after pedestrian struck by semi in Red Deer area

Alberta RCMP in the Red Deer area were called to investigate a crash in the northbound lanes of Highway 2 on Friday that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

In a news release issued just before 4 p.m. Friday, police said emergency crews were called to the scene at Gasoline Alley and expected to remain at the scene “for several hours.”

On Saturday morning, RCMP issued another released that said the pedestrian had been taken to a local hospital and then flown to Calgary in serious condition. The driver of the semi involved in the collision remained on scene.

The RCMP did not immediately say what investigators believe caused the collision but confirmed that officers continue to investigate.
