Large plumes of smoke filled the sky over Whitemud Drive Friday morning as firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze at a home near  156th Street  and 78th Avenue.

Flames could also be seen shooting from the roof of the home.

A spokesperson for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) said five crews were dispatched to the scene around 7:20 a.m.

EFRS said the fire appeared to be in the attic of the home.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

EFRS said the fire was under control as of 8:06 a.m.

Investigators are still looking into the cause.
