A pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Etobicoke earlier this week has died from their injuries, according to police.
Toronto police said it happened in the Kipling Avenue and Ronson Drive area, which is around Highway 401. Emergency crews responded at 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
In an update, police said a driver operating a grey 2006 Kia was travelling southbound on Kipling Avenue and approaching Ronson Drive when they struck a male pedestrian crossing the south crosswalk.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Thursday morning, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.
The victim is a man in his 30s, paramedics said.
According to police, the driver initially fled the scene but later returned.
As of Tuesday morning, the driver hadn’t been charged with any offences, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
“It’s too early in the investigation to confirm what charges will be laid, if any,” a police spokesperson said.
Police are asking local residents, business and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
