Several calls were made to 911 shortly after 9 a.m. about the attack inside the business on Masson Street near Molson Street in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

Police say the victim was stabbed in the upper body and was taken to hospital in critical condition. In an update in the afternoon, police spokesperson Jeanne Drouin said his life was no longer considered to be in danger.

Officers arrested a 21-year-old man at the scene. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and will meet with investigators later Tuesday.

Police say the stabbing occurred during a fight between the two men, who both work at the store.

A safety perimeter was set up in the area for the investigation.
