Lights at Lafarge season kick-off

Lights at Lafarge Season Kick-off Metro Vancouver’s largest, free outdoor lights display at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park kicks-off on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Visitors can expect an exciting evening with two entertainment hubs, dazzling light displays that encircle the 1.2 km Lafarge Lake loop, food trucks, buskers, roving entertainers, family crafts and more. This year’s Lights at Lafarge kick-off event will take place entirely outdoors with live entertainment on two stages so visitors should dress in warm clothing and waterproof, durable footwear as they take in all the festivities: TD Community Plaza will host the Opening Celebration at 7 p.m. with the feature performance, The Crystal Torch, a multimedia and live fire, acrobatic show by NZR productions you will not want to miss. Visitors can really get into the holiday spirit with more family-favourite performances at the plaza with Coastal Sound Music Academy, a vibrant youth choir, and the a-capella chorus of the Gentlemen of Fortune. The holiday concert finale will wrap up with the polished roots, soul and blues sounds of Lesismore. West Lake Village (west side of Lafarge Lake) will host the Busker’s Stage with the warmth luxurious harmonies of Winsome Kind and the Ukuladies of Lulu Island with tunes from across the decades using their tenor and baritone ukuleles. Lights Zones & Features – The dazzling light displays that encircle the 1.2 km Lafarge Lake loop will be on at dusk – approx. 4:30 p.m. – so visitors are encouraged to enjoy the lights before the festivities begin. The lights dislays are designed into more than 10 zones including a winter lights entry gate, 90-foot caterpillar, woodland garden, outdoor dining table illuminated by a chandelier, fantasy forest with an elfin tree house, lighted woodland creatures, illuminated maple leafs, salmon, floating lotus flowers amd giant-sized mushrooms, beehive and flowers. Roving Entertainment & Family Activities As visitors wander the lake loop and take in the more than 100,000 twinkling lights and displays they can enjoy the comical and ethereal playfulness of roving performers perfect for those seasonal pics. Watch for the Winter Jester, Lady Neige, Buddy the Elf and the Electric Clowns. Miss the kick-off event?
