In an unprecedented effort to support local families during these challenging times, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs is proud to announce its largest-ever backpack giveaway, distributing more than 2,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies and hygiene products.
This initiative is designed to prepare students for success as they begin the new school year. Each backpack is filled with items such as notebooks, pencils, and personal hygiene products, ensuring that no child is left behind as they return to the classroom.
This year’s event holds special significance for many families in our community. Toronto Emergency Services, Toronto Fire Services, and Toronto Police are deeply committed to children’s safety and will be on-site to share important safety information, distribute keepsakes for children and families, and provide resources at information tables. In light of recent tragic incidents in the city, these first responders are coming together to ensure families are equipped with vital safety knowledge.
“Our top priority is protecting the health and well-being of every child and family in our community. Events like this give us the chance to share lifesaving knowledge and build a safer future together.” — Toronto EMS
“Fire safety starts with awareness. By teaching children and families simple safety practices, we can prevent tragedies and keep our community strong and protected.” — Toronto Fire Services
“Community safety is everyone’s responsibility. We are proud to work alongside families to ensure children feel safe, supported, and cared for at home, in school, and in their neighborhoods.” — Toronto Police Service
Adding to the excitement, members of the Toronto Police Service across the city will assist with backpack distribution, demonstrating the unity and cooperation among community partners in supporting local youth.
This event has been made possible thanks to the generosity of partners including BIC, Yorkgate Mall, Scotiabank, TD Bank, GlobalMedic, Grand & Toy, and Spin Master.
“Every backpack we fill is more than just supplies—it’s a message of hope, support, and opportunity for a child’s future.” — Zubeda Nanji, Executive Director, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs
About The Children’s Breakfast Clubs
For over 40 years, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs has provided healthy meals along with educational, cultural, and recreational activities to children and youth across Southern Ontario in a respectful and dignified manner. We work with community partners to deliver nutritious, balanced, and culturally reflective breakfast programs.
In the 2024–2025 school year alone, we served over 500,000 meals in more than 40 communities. Beyond meals, our programs provide children with emotional support, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive in a welcoming and engaging environment. Thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors, and community partners, we are able to empower young minds and create lasting positive change in our communities.
