A story about a woman of strength and vision. Ukrainian dance normally explores themes or stories, but not individuals. It depicts celebrations, but rarely the trials and challenges of life. Shumka will focus on the life of Lesya Ukrainka – its artistic angst, its physical hardships, its creative triumphs, and escapes.
Shumka’s Lesya Ukrainka will be performing at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from October 4 – 5th.
