The Fraser Valley, nestled along the mighty Fraser River, is a must-visit in southwestern British Columbia.
It’s the largest agricultural region in the province and is home to picturesque farmland which stretches between the Coast and Cascade mountain ranges.
With over 40 wineries, nature excursions, and Indigenous experiences, visitors will find a unique and unforgettable experience whatever season they decide to visit.
As summer shifts to autumn, you’ll find the beautiful transformation on full display at Maan Farms. The third-generation family farm is known for its annual ‘Fall at the Farm’ festival, which runs from September 14 to November 3.
Take in the 10-acre pumpkin patch, venture into the family-friendly corn maze, or head to the Barnyard Adventureland.
“At Fall at the Farm, we aim to create a magical experience that enchants every sense as our guests are immersed in the essence of autumn,” says Gurleen Maan, Director of Fun.
It’s not just the sights that will captivate you. The smells that come from Mama Maan’s Country Kitchen will instantly catapult you into the seasonal spirit with kettle corn, double pumpkin spice cream, mini donuts, caramel apples, and so much more.
If you’re searching for more savoury fare, treat yourself to experimental dishes like pumpkin pizza, butter chicken poutine, and curry naan tacos.
Continue the farm fantasy at the Kensington Prairie Farm in Aldergrove. Established by Catherine Simpson and Jim Dales in 2000, the farm has grown from 12 alpacas to more than 30 animals, including a trio of camels.

Today, the farm breeds and raises Huacaya alpacas and offers visitors unique up-close-and-personal experiences: visitors can walk a harnessed alpaca, enter a pen for a meet-and-greet, and take a yoga class surrounded by furry friends. The focus on agritourism also means that visitors will get to learn more about the alpacas and how the shearing process works.
“Sharing our love of alpacas with the community and visitors to our farm has been incredibly rewarding. It’s been amazing to see how people are drawn to the opportunity to connect with these gentle creatures,” says Catherine and Jim’s granddaughter Dee Milton.
Milton manages the store and livestock, and it all began when she was 8 years old.
“I didn’t grow up on a farm, but everything changed the summer after my eighth birthday,” Milton recalls. “That summer, filled with long days, hard work, and a deep dive into animal care, had a profound impact on me.”
At the Kensington Prairie Farm store, you’ll also be able to support locals by buying alpaca products, artisanal honey, jam, and eggs.
A visit to the Fraser Valley is not complete without a visit to a winery.
Tucked away in the South Langley countryside is Township 7 Vineyards & Winery. Created in 2000, this establishment has become known for quality wine, hospitality, and immersive experiences like its live sabrage demonstration.
“In the Fraser Valley, our focus is primarily on sparkling wines, where the cooler climate creates ideal conditions for producing elegant, crisp bubbles,” says Mary McDermott, Township 7 Vineyards & Winery winemaker.
Township 7 is among the few wineries that have locations in two of British Columbia’s Designated Viticultural Areas including a vineyard in the Okanagan Valley.
“The warmer Okanagan Valley is perfect for cultivating grapes that thrive in a sun-soaked environment, making it the ideal region for our still wines.”
From the lush landscapes to the family-owned businesses to the fine wine, the Fraser Valley is a local escape perfect for a daytrip from Vancouver or longer.
