Global News projects Karen Principe has won the seat in tastawiyiniwak, ousting incumbent Jon Dziadyk.
With all polls reporting Tuesday morning, unofficial results show Principe received 38.9 per cent of the vote and Dziadyk came in second with 30.57 per cent.
Dziadyk was seeking a second term as councillor in this north Edmonton ward.

Edmonton’s municipal wards will be redrawn and renamed effective election day Oct. 18. Formerly Ward 3, this ward is being renamed tastawiyiniwak (Pronunciation: TASS-TAW-WIN-EE-WOK).
Dziadyk is running against five other people.
Here’s a quick look at the candidates running for council in tastawiyiniwak.
Ahmed ‘Knowmadic’ Ali
Ali currently holds an advisory role on the National Council of Canadian Muslims and is a board member at the Sahaba Mosque. He says he is “all in” for the north side.
He says he values transparency and equality, having spent time on the Law Enforcement Review Board.
In 2017, Ali was named one of Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine.
Cody Bondarchuk
Bondarchuk believes this election will be a defining event for Edmonton.

He is looking for strong leadership and bold ideas that transform the way people think about Edmonton, its economy, environment and communities.
Bondarchuk said he is running to bring bold, progressive change to issues like housing, community development, mobility and public safety.
Jon Dziadyk
Dziadyk has sat on council for the last four years.
As councillor, he is the vice chair of both the community and public services committee and the Edmonton salutes committee.
Iannie Gerona
On Sept. 29, Gerona suspected her campaign for city council and put her support behind fellow candidate Ahmed Knowmadic Ali.
Because Gerona dropped out of the race after the nomination deadline, her name will still be on the ballot on Oct. 18.
Zain Hafiz
Hafiz moved to Edmonton in 2009 and received a diploma in petroleum engineering at NAIT. He is now a local business owner.
Hafiz’s priorities include pandemic recovery, empowering small businesses, improving city services and improving community safety.
Karen Principe
Principe ran for council in this ward in 2017.
Her priorities include an effective COVID-19 recovery plan, a push for lower taxes, fighting for better transit and enhancing safety by supporting the police and including community relations.
In total, 11 people are running for mayor and 74 candidates are running for city council. Eight people are running to become Edmonton Catholic School Board trustees, six of whom have been acclaimed. There are 40 people are running to become Edmonton Public School Board trustees.
Advance voting will take place from Oct. 4 to Oct. 13, including Thanksgiving Monday (Oct. 11).
Election day is Monday, Oct. 18.
