Above: Fans in Toronto line up for midnight release of Xbox One
TORONTO – Xbox fans across North America lined the streets outside of their local game shop Thursday night to be the first to get their hands on Microsoft’s latest gaming console, the Xbox One.
From Vancouver to Halifax, midnight launch events were held at retail locations across the country.

At the Future Shop’s midnight launch party at Toronto’s Yonge and Dundas location, fans dressed up as zombies to show their excitement for Dead Rising 3, one of the games available for Xbox One.
Meanwhile, at Microsoft’s New York City launch party, fans marched the streets as Roman soldiers.

“We have the best community of gamers around the world, and this was on full display last night,” said Marc Whitten, chief product officer for Xbox in a press release.
“The launch of Xbox One is truly Day One. Today is the beginning of the future of entertainment, and we could not be more proud to deliver Xbox One to fans around the world.”
The launch of Xbox One comes just one week after competitor Sony released its new console the PlayStation 4.
