MONTREAL – Guy Turcotte, a former Quebec doctor, is due in court on Thursday after surrendering to police.
Authorities say they intend to charge Turcotte, once again, with two counts of first-degree murder.
In a controversial verdict in 2011, he was found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder for the shocking 2009 stabbing deaths of his two young children.
Yesterday, an arrest warrant was issued for Turcotte, just hours after the Quebec Court of Appeal tossed out the verdict and ordered a new trial.

Police say Turcotte surrendered at a police station.
In the initial trial, court was told his five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter were stabbed 46 times as they lay in their beds.
Turcotte was released after 46 months of detention in a prison and eventually a mental institution.
