WINNIPEG — Winnipeg police have charged a 29-year-old man after a car collided with a train Saturday evening.
Police and emergency crews were called to Archibald Street and Fermor Avenue at around 9:50 p.m.
The driver of a Mazda 3 was travelling on Fermor when the signal lights and warning bells were activated at the train crossing, police said.
The driver ignored the signals and attempted to cross the tracks, police said. The car hit the second engine of the train.
There were no injuries, police said.
Adam Norton faces a number of charges, including driving while disqualified and failing to stop at a railway crossing at which a traffic control device is signalling the proximity or passing of a train.
He is in police custody.
