SASKATOON – An emergency training operation will be taking place in Saskatoon.
Exercise Domino will test the ability of over 30 agencies to respond to a major disaster.
It is designed as a full-scale exercise that will focus on an all-hazards model to test the organizations and how government and private sector agencies respond.
Organizers say recent events highlight the need to be prepared for any event.
“The Calgary and southern Alberta floods as well as the explosion in Lac Mégantic, Quebec are sober reminders we need to be ready for anything,”said Ray Unrau, emergency planning director for the city.
While most of the exercise is a tabletop or virtual practise, evacuation, urban and medical rescue, scenarios are planned for Oct. 7-8.
Exercise Domino is the first of its kind in Saskatchewan and runs from Oct. 7-10.
