UPDATE: IHIT says Hong Nguyen was arrested at Vancouver International Airport Friday night with help from YVR RCMP and CATSA employees. Investigators say he was trying to fly to Montreal. Currently they have not located the Honda Odyssey and are asking the public to assist in locating it – a 2000 Green Honda Odyssey with the licence plate 390 XHB. Also missing is the firearm used in the homicide.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit is on scene in the Newton neighbourhood of Surrey after a shooting death.
It took place at 145A Street and 81A Avenue just before 4 o’clock this afternoon.
Police say they received a phone call suggesting a man was down with a gunshot wound inside a house in the area.
When police arrived, they found the man dead.
Investigators say they believe the incident was a domestic dispute.
Police are now looking for the suspect — Hong Manh Nguyen, a 56-year-old believed to be armed and dangerous.
It is believed he escaped in a 2000 green Honda Odyssey, with B.C. licence plate number 390 XHB.
The suspect is described as 5’5 tall and 115 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Police believe Nguyen may still be in possession of a firearm and are advising the public to not approach, but to call 911 instead.
