CALGARY- A bit of relief has been announced for High River residents, whose homes were damaged by first responders and RCMP during the June flood.

A number of doors and windows were broken, as crews worked to ensure there were no people left inside the homes. RCMP were also criticized for breaking into locked-up homes to check for guns.

The town council, RCMP and the province have come up with an agreement to compensate people for the damage.

Anyone whose homes were damaged as a result of emergency crews are asked to call RCMP at 403-652-2356. An officer will go to the home to confirm damage took place, and homeowners are asked to provide photos.

Once the damage is repaired, receipts can be submitted to High River RCMP, and the town will process the payment as quickly as possible.
