Translink will begin charging people on September 1 to park at its Park and Ride facility in Langley.
The facility has been free since it opened in December 2012.
The new fee will be $2 per day, or a monthly pass can be purchased for $40. Motorcyclists will pay $1 per day to park at the lot, and bike lockers are available for $10 a month for cyclists.
The parking lot has 670 spaces for commuters to park their vehicles and hop on transit.
Many users park at the facility and take the new rapid bus across the Port Mann Bridge. The bus has its own dedicated lane and currently transports about 38,000 commuters across the bridge daily.
Translink says the free period was an “introductory offer,” and they are now gearing up to start charging parkers.
The new parking fee isn’t the only increase hitting south of the Fraser drivers in the pocket book.
Tolls for the Port Mann Bridge are set to jump this winter to $3 per crossing once the highway project is complete.
