Former radio host convicted for child porn

KELOWNA, B.C. – A former radio personality who has worked in B.C. and Alberta has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and has been sentenced to nine months in jail.

Forty-seven-year-old Darren Mitchell Robertson was arrested following an international investigation that began in July 2006 in Australia, Belgium, Italy and Canada.

Robertson’s lawyer was hoping for a conditional sentence order, but she says the judge’s decision was well-reasoned.

Robertson was once a host on the Kelowna radio station AM1150, as well as the music director at SunFM, but left the city in 2011.

Most recently, he worked at Calgary radio station QR77, though his lawyer, Kelly Christiansen, says he is no longer at the Calgary station.

He will also be placed on the sex offender registry for a period of 10 years.
