CALGARY – Although a High Streamflow Advisory remains in place, the threat of rising water levels throughout the province is beginning to subside.
The Alberta Government issued the advisory on Thursday, to warn of rising water levels at several rivers throughout the province amid a deluge of rain.
Between 50 and 100 mm of rain has fallen along the eastern slopes in southwestern Alberta since Wednesday morning.
However, water levels are already peaking at the Elbow River, Highwood River – and Bow River upstream of Ghost Reservoir.
Meanwhile the water levels at the Oldman River upstream of Lethbridge are actually falling.
Only the Sheep River remains a concern, as water levels continue to rise.
No flood watches or warnings have been issued.
Officials are monitoring water levels and will release an update if conditions worsen.
