Calgary police investigate after a woman was hit by a car in intersection of 90th Avenue S.W. and 19th Street S.W. Global News

CALGARY – Police are trying to determine what led to a deadly crash, after a woman was hit by a car in the community of Palliser on Sunday night.

It happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of 90th Avenue S.W. and 19th Street S.W.

Police say the victim was crossing the street in a crosswalk, when she was hit by a car being driven by a 29-year-old woman.

The victim, who has been identified as 65-year-old Wendy Turnbull, died at the scene.

Police initially took the driver into custody, but she was released without charges. Investigators are trying to determine whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
